Artisan roasters true to Italian & Austrian coffee culture

Italian coffee and its rich tradition from roasting to indulgence is synonymous for the Mediterranean way of life and our association of a perfect vacation. Italians are world famous for their coffee bars – that form an integral part of their daily routines – as well as their espresso, cappuccino coffee preparations people enjoy in every corner of the globe. The association of a shot of espresso with the light breeze of the Adriatic Sea, the historic town centres and breathtaking cars, makes us daydreaming in an instant.

This is Kat smiling at us while we take this picture at Scout Coffee in San Luis Obispo, California. Their in-house roastery provides the deliciously roasted beans for the beautiful coffees they make on their La Marzocco.

Visiting Finca Colombia in Antigua Guatemala

Right when the dry season nears its end, buds on coffee plants dare to stick out a just a little, only waiting impatiently for the first rainfall in order to burst open to full bloom. That first rain of a rainy season, we learn, will also determine the time of harvest which makes it an important forecast for coffee farmers, not only here in this beautiful midland of Guatemala. Aeropress coffee at Talkhouse Coffee, London

Early morning, before tourists hit the streets and even before office folk goes about their morning routine of grabbing a to-go cup coffee at random coffee shops, the famous Portobello Road in Notting Hill is a lonely place. On our own search for a good cup of coffee

About the art of coffee making, cold drip coffee & Infinity Bakery in Sydney

Paddington is a place not short of great coffee shops, small restaurants using organic produce and artisan bakeries offering their fresh fare. After walking past Infinity Bakery on Oxford Street one afternoon just before they closed we decided not to rush it but come back for a proper meal. So we came back for breakfast only a few days later and it was worth the return. Continue reading “About the art of coffee making, cold drip coffee & Infinity Bakery in Sydney”

Does Cow&Moon Sydney also deliver world champion gelato in-store?

The 2014 Grand Finale of The Gelato World Tour brought the title “World’s Best Gelato” to Australia. The two Gelatiere John and Sam Crowl from the small ice cream parlour and coffee shop Cow & Moon in Newtown, Sydney, convinced jurors that their Mandorla Affogato ice cream was the best on this planet. For us having spent 10 days in the capital of NSW, this place was a must-visit on our bucket list. Continue reading “Does Cow&Moon Sydney also deliver world champion gelato in-store?”

About Sydney’s diverse neighbourhoods & Greenhouse Coffee Bar

Sydney is an amazing place on so many levels. One thing that amazes me in particular is that city’s neighbourhoods are very different and its fun trying to figure which other parts of the world they resemble. Sydney CBD appears like a small Manhattan, Manly could be a place right in the Florida Keys or the Caribbean whereas when in Paddington you’d feel like in London’s Nottinghill or similar.
