DownTown Dubai, the part of the city around Burj Khalifa (renowned as the highest building in the world), has developed rapidly since the tower was opened in early 2010. A beautiful boulevard lined with restaurants, coffee shops and hotels invites to stroll along or to take the car for a little cruise. One of the outstanding new spots is La Serre Boulangerie on the ground floor of the VIDA hotel. La Serre Boulangerie is located one floor below the fine dining restaurant La Serre. French-mediterranean cuisine hardly any place in Dubai is able to match, combined with appealing European interior design and competent staff its a place to take your better half to. But back to the Boulangerie on boulevard level. Also here, the great interior sticks out immediately, still french-european like the upper floor but marble table tops and wooden chairs remind of a bistro right away. With a few tables inside in parallel to the counter, patrons prefer the cozy outdoor seating on the boulevard, at least in the winter months.

What about the fare? Cappuccino: full bodied coffee with stiff milk foam and some art on top, great! Croissants: tasty, buttery, flakey, great! Brioche: tasty, soft, great! Baguette: crispy outside, soft inside, great! Orange juice: freshly squeezed, great! Eggs Benedict: medium egg with runny yolk on toasted sourdough bread, great! So, what not to like? Nothing. Usually there is a waiting list for breakfast on weekends but have a coffee while waiting and things look half as bad.
