I had read about Brew Café in Dubai’s Jumeirah district on Instagram by several bloggers before but never made it. Today was the day to get my after lunch caffeine fix there.
It’s located on Jumeirah Beach Road, close to Jumeirah Beach hotel, right opposite of Emarat gas station. Brew Café is a small coffee bar of modern industrial interior design with blank concrete floor and counter, elements of steel and untreated wood beams along the walls serving as tabletops. The place is brightly lid through the floor to ceiling window front.
Talking to the friendly and skilled barista, Saroj, I learned that Brew Café is owned by an Emirati coffee connoisseur aiming to bring a fine and periodically changing selection of coffee to Dubai. He selects from small boutique roasteries from all around the world. Currently coffee lovers can enjoy different roasts from The Barn Coffee Roasters Berlin. I asked Saroj to prepare an espresso for me on his La Marzocco Strada. My beans of choice were from Ethiopia’s Guji region from Suke Quto farm and were roasted by The Barn Coffee Roasters Berlin. The Suke Quto farm was established in 2005 and is dedicated to environmentally friendly production. By now 150 coffee farmers in the area are providing their produce to Suke Quto for processing. The Barn Coffee Roasters are a speciality roastery in Germany’s capital and pride themselves to pay premium prices in order to support small coffee farmers and create sustainable business for everyone. Applaus! To recap: Coffee grown in Ethiopia, roasted in Berlin and enjoyed in Dubai!
This bar is a great addition to Dubai’s evolving coffee scene.
