The Viennese coffee house culture “Kaffeehauskultur” is a big thing in the Austrian capital. My emphasis on the coffee house, or “Kaffeehaus”, rather than the coffee is intentional as the experience in a coffee house is what the culture is all about and less the hot beverage itself.

DownTown Dubai, the part of the city around Burj Khalifa (renowned as the highest building in the world), has developed rapidly since the tower was opened in early 2010. A beautiful boulevard lined with restaurants, coffee shops and hotels invites to stroll along or to take the car for a little cruise. Costa and Starbucks are ubiquitous in the UAE, at every other corner one can find an option to refill on caffeine or get a sugar-rush in form of frappuccinos. There is a Costa coffeeshop close to my office and their delicious “Corto” has proven a quick pleasure to re-charge during a long office afternoon. Adequately served in a small glass and beautified by some milk-foam-art its a treat I do love to indulge. The chocolate chip cookie is a rare exception though.
